You Forgot Your Clothes!

This is officially my last post from Mongolia. I believe it is perfect that my final day happens to fall on April Fool's Day. For the most part, Mongolians have a great sense of humor and revel in days especially allocated for jokes and pranks. I appreciate that. Here's a good story:

I had to go to a cell phone center this afternoon in order to transfer the service from my name to another person's in JCS. With me was a Mongolian staff person who tends to make things lively wherever she goes. We were sitting in the taxi, when she informed our driver that he had a strange looking spot on his face. He looked rather worriedly into the rearview mirror to check it out when my little friend said, "just kidding, April Fool's" (only in Mongolian, of course). He smiled and we had a little giggle about it together. Then as we were leaving she tried to do a little money trickery with him, but this time he caught on to her fooling right away.

When we were in our second taxi on our way from the cell phone place, she did a similar prank to our driver, who, thankfully, was also pretty good natured about her naughty tricks. So much so, in fact, that as we were walking away from the car, he pulled up behind us and yelled out his window, "Hey! You forgot your clothes!" Then he drove away with a big grin on his face. We had a good chuckle about it.

I really love it that my last couple hours in this great place are on a day meant especially for laughter and fun.

And now, it's time to go pack. See you later.

Sain Yavarai!

...to be continued. The Thirsty Camel is not finished yet.
